Securing Microsoft 365 Migrations: A Zero-Trust Cloud Adoption Framework

Unchecked legacy permissions, unclassified content, and delayed access controls expose sensitive corporate data during Microsoft 365 migrations. The implementable remedy is a Zero-Trust Cloud Adoption Framework that sequences three controls: a pre-migration audit with Microsoft Entra ID Identity Protection to remediate high-risk accounts and disable legacy authentication; pre-migration classification with Microsoft Purview Information Protection so sensitivity labels travel with every document; and a phased Conditional Access rollout that moves policies from Report-Only to enforced based on sign-in log analysis.
