Riley Howard received an M.S. in Informatics in May 2025, and B.S. in Security and Risk Analysis in May 2024 from The Pennsylvania State University. At Penn State, Riley was the co-director of Red Cell Analytics, an organization specializing in red and blue teaming, and conducting research on emerging security issues. This article reflects the research Riley conducted for her recently published Master’s Thesis, which involved creating the Systems Noise Model, and applying the model to Facebook’s historical practices. Riley is very passionate about data privacy and educating users on deceptive privacy practices that are currently prevalent online, and she is excited to begin the next step of her journey working with RSM U.S. as a Security and Privacy Risk Consultant.
